"It wasn't long before specks were thrashing the top of the water. But the first couple were throw backs, so I moved closer to the beach and BAMM!!! There they were. We only caught about twenty trout when they quit . . . I decided to move to the west side of the Bay Long pass. BAMM!! Got 'em again."

Papa Joe's Cajun Wetlands Guide Service is a sure bet for those seeking the thrill of fishing Southeastern Louisiana. Your adventure begins at sunrise when we leave the dock and head for one of the numerous nearby fishing spots. You're likely to see some of the wide variety of wildlife, from waterfowl to alligators, that help make this area one of the most productive fisheries in the country.

Anglers that want to bring their catch home or sample it cooked up fresh at a local restaurant can have their fish cleaned at the end of the trip, but not before Papa Joe snaps a few pictures to include on his website! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS. . .

When and where do we fish?

Normal fishing trips run from safe light to noon or shortly thereafter. Trips are available from the Lafitte Seaway Marina all year round, during the cooler months trips to fly fish or spin cast for redfish in the duck ponds leave from Myrtle Grove Marina. Overnight trips to Grand Isle are also available. Normally we fish our way there the first day and back the next. We can also customize a trip just for you.

How many people can you handle?

We can manage trips for groups as large as fifty people.

Are nearby accommodations available?

Yes, Papa Joe has accommodations for up to 8 people at his lodge in Lafitte, Loutisiana. Many people are in town for conventions or vacation and stay downtown. If you are coming in strictly to fish or if you'd just rather stay close to the fishing, we recommend staying at Papa Joe's lodge. For larger groups, additional accommodations are available at either Lafitte Seaway Marina or at the Victorian Cottage.

I'm staying in New Orleans, how far away are you?

Both marinas are about 35 miles from downtown New Orleans. We can provide directions if you'd prefer to drive yourself or we can arrange hotel to marina transportation for your fishing trip.

What about the fish I catch?

Most vacationers catch and release. We have fish cleaning available for those that want to eat them for lunch or dinner at one of several restaurants within a mile of the launch. Some people take them home if they have the means.

Is lunch provided?

Some people arrange to bring their own food and drinks, some people prefer us to provide it for them at actual cost.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING . . .

Dress for the time of the year.
Early morning boat rides are cold in the winter and can be cool in the summer.

Bring a camera.
You'll have plenty of photo opportunities.

Southeast Louisiana is noted for afternoon thunderstorms
in the summer but the sun is very hot.
We recommend that you bring a
hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Fishing license: Non-resident / resident fishing licenses for charter passengers are available from Papa Joe.
